I have a structured approach to planning and delivering therapy. I believe this is important to ensuring effective outcomes for my patients and clients. Trust and confidentiality are at the heart of good therapy and this sets the ceiling for a good therapeutic relationship.
My personal style is informal, drawing on practical experience and a good sense of humour. Therapists are all too often highly sensitive people, who can sometimes take themselves too seriously and present in a detached or distant manner. It's therefore important that I work in an relatable and ordinary way with my clients, so that they feel understood, properly supported and normal.
I always start the process with a brief informal call, so that we can both do our best to ensure that the interpersonal fit is right. This means that I have a very low drop-out rate and my patients and clients provide good feedback.
Accredited members of the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy (BABCP), are required to undertake regular monthly clinical supervision and complete an annual reaccreditation process to ensure that they have maintained relevant professional development. This provides the public with quality assurance and helps to ensure that accredited CBT psychotherapists are up to date working to ethical and professional standards. As an BABCP accredited CBT specialist, I am required to demonstrate these standards.
In addition to a masters degree specialising in applied behavioural analysis, I have post-graduate qualifications and have completed specialist clinical training in the following areas:
Proffessional Accreditations
I am a professionally accredited member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy (BABCP). This is the "Gold Standard" for CBT in the UK and is recognised and separately accredited across the EU and Ireland.
In addition to my clinical training, I am also a qualified and experienced Executive Performance Coach and a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD.
My BABCP accreditation number is 120537, my bps registration number is 327777 and my CIPD membership number is 50215581X.
Note: not all therapists offering CBT are professionally qualified or accredited. Always check the UK CBT register to ensure that you are working with a qualified and accredited specialist.
